The Ahmadiyah Community of Indonesia — Documentary

Indonesia is often held up as a shining example of a moderate Muslim state – a democratic country where cultural and religious diversity are the norm. But increasingly, that image just doesn’t hold up to scrutiny. Politically conservative Islam has taken root in Indonesia. And it’s resulted in less tolerance for minority groups, particularly the country’s Ahmadiyah community. The Ahmadiyahs are a minority sect within Islam. And they’ve become the target of fundamentalist Muslims. Hundreds have suffered brutal violence and been driven out of their homes and communities.

The CBC’s Natasha Fatah prepared a documentary about the Ahmadiyah community.
